What we do

Training designed by officials, for officials.

Our training events provide a balance of classroom time and game evaluations. A typical daily agenda will include 1-2 games on the court, video analysis and an organized classroom session.

Participants can expect to work hard on and off the court, and have some fun in the process.

The Referee School staff is a special group of officials past and present. Each one is hand picked and only includes those who are passionate about helping you improve your officiating skill set.

Our History

Since 2009, Referee School has helped officials tap into their potential.

Referee School was started in 2009 by Women's Basketball Official Penny Davis. Basketball officials training in a positive and passionate manner from some of the best in the game. The staff at Referee School is a passionate group of officials who will teach you, challenge you and make you a better official. Every member of the staff is committed to giving back to the game and the forum at Referee School is the perfect vessel for them to share their experience and love of the game.

Penny began officiating after the completion of her playing career as a way to stay involved with the game. She worked her way up through the ranks of high school, small college and the professional level. Penny has worked in 14 NCAA tournaments, including the Final Four in 2015 and 2018. In 2019, Penny hung up her stripes and took a leadership role with the NCAA as she was named the NCAA National Coordinator of women's basketball officiating [link].
